Currently, she is a PhD candidate in Museum Studies at the University of Iceland, studying museums as research institutions, focusing on the unique methods and techniques museums have to generate and disseminate knowledge. Part of the study is to situate museums in the current hierarchy of science, where universities sit at the top while the place of museums remains ambiguous and undefined. A documentation and analysis of research activity is Icelandic museums is a case study. Ólöf’s work crosses borders between anthropology, material culture studies and museum studies, deploying curatorial practice as a research method. Among curatorial projects are i.e. Acknowledging Knowledge (Hveragerði Art Museum, 2010) and In Between (Hafnarborg Center of Culture and Fine Art, 2011). She participates actively in public discourse in the field of museums, contemporary art and research politics. Since 2007 she has been working at the Iceland University of the Arts, establishing the emerging field of artistic research in Iceland.

Guðrún Hildur Rosenkjær

Guðrún Hildur er meistaranemi í sagnfræði við Háskóla Íslands en lauk BA-námi 2017.
