Dr. Sigurður Gylfi Magnússon

Dr. Sigurður Gylfi Magnússon er prófessor við Sagnfræði- og heimspekideild Háskóla Íslands auk þess að vera yfir Miðstöð einsögurannsókna á sama stað. Hann er höfundur 22 bóka og fjölda greina sem hafa birst á Íslandi og annarsstaðar í heiminum. Nýjustu bækur hans á ensku eru: Wasteland with Words. A Social History of Iceland (London: Reaktion Books, 2010); What is Microhistory? Theory and Practice (London: Routledge, 2013), meðhöfundur er dr. István M. Szijártó og Minor Knowledge and Microhistory (London: Routledge, 2017), meðhöfundur er dr. Davíð Ólafsson. Sigurður Gylfi er einn þriggja ritstjóra Sýnisbókar íslenskrar alþýðumenningar en í ritröðinni hafa birst yfir tuttugu bækur á sviði hversdagssögu, einsögu og heimildafræði. Hann er ásamt István M. Szijártó ritstjóri nýrrar ritraðar sem hið alþjóðlega bókaforlag Routledge gefur út og nefnist Microhistories.

Dr Sigurður Gylfi Magnússon (Historian – Ph.D.) is currently a Professor of Cultural History, Department of History and Philosophy at the University of Iceland and the chair of the Center for Microhistorical Research (www.microhistory.org). He is the author of 22 books and numerus articles published in Iceland and abroad. His latest books in English are: Wasteland with Words. A Social History of Iceland (London: Reaktion Books, 2010), What is Microhistory? Theory and Practice (London: Routledge, 2013), co-authored with István M. Szijártó and Minor Knowledge and Microhistory (London: Routledge, 2017), co-authored with Davíð Ólafsson.

Sigurður Gylfi is the founder and one of three editors of a book series named: ‘The Anthology of Icelandic Popular Culture’ (Sýnisbók íslenskrar alþýðumenningar) which has already published 22 books, mostley on the topics of egodocuments and everyday life history. He is also co-editor with István M. Szijártó of a new international book series, Microhistories, published by Routledge.

Dr. Anna Lísa Rúnarsdóttir

Dr. Anna Lísa Rúnarsdóttir er rannsóknarmaður við Sagnfræði- og heimspekideild Háskóla Íslands, en hún var um árabil sviðsstjóri rannsókna og varðveislu á Þjóðminjasafni Íslands. Hún lauk doktorsprófi frá mannfræðideild University College London þar sem hún sérhæfði sig í rannsóknum á efnismenningu, en stundaði einnig nám í arkitektúr í Frakklandi. Fyrri rannsóknir hennar hafa fjallað um byggingarlist og efnismenningu heimilisins, bæði á Tonga eyjum í Suður Kyrrahafi og í tengslum við íslenska torfbæinn.

Dr. Anna Lísa Rúnarsdóttir is a researcher at the Faculty of History and Philosophy at the University of Iceland, but she worked for several years as Head of Research and Collections at the National Museum of Iceland. She completed a PhD in anthropology from University College London where she focused on material culture studies, but also studied architecture in France. Her previous research mainly deals with architecture and the material culture of the home, carried out in the Kingdom of Tonga in the South Pacific and in connection with the Icelandic turf farm.

Dr. Ágústa Edwald Maxwell

Dr. Ágústa Edwald Maxwell vinnur að nýdoktorsverkefni í fornleifafræði um efnisveruleika íslenskra heimila á 18. og 19. öld eins og hann birtist í dánarbúum og gripasöfnum úr fornleifauppgröftum. Verkefnið er styrkt af Marie Curie áætlun Evrópusambandsins.  Ágústa varði doktorsritgerð sína, um fornleifafræði fólksflutninga til Vesturheims, við Háskólann í Aberdeen í Skotlandi árið 2012. Frá 2012-2017 vann hún við fornleifafræðideild sama háskóla að rannsóknum um sjálfsmynd og efnismenningu innflytjenda til Kanada á 19. öld.

Dr. Ágústa Edwald Maxwell is a Marie Curie research fellow in archaeology. She is currently researching the material culture of Icelandic homes in the 18th and 19th centuries through probate inventories and archaeological assemblages. Ágústa completed her doctoral thesis, on the archaeology of the emigration from Iceland to Canada in the late 19th century, at the University of Aberdeen in Scotland in 2012. From 2012-2017 she worked at the same University researching the material culture and identity of different immigrant groups to the Canadian Prairie in the 19th and early 20th centuries.

Dr. Davíð Ólafsson

Dr. Davíð Ólafsson er sagnfræðingur og aðjunkt í menningarfræði í Deild menningagreina á Hugvísindasviði Háskóla Íslands. Eftir hann liggur nokkur fjöldi fræðigreina og bókakafla á sviði menningarsögu 19. aldar, einkum með áherslu á læsisiðkun og handritamenningu. Davíð er, ásamt Sigurði Gylfa Magnússyni, höfundur bókarinnar Minor Knowledge and Microhistory: Manuscript Culture in the Nineteenth Century (London: Routledge, 2017). Hann er jafnframt einn þriggja ritstjóra ritraðarinnar Sýnisbók íslenskrar alþýðumenningar.

Dr Davíð Ólafsson is a historian and an adjunct lecturer in cultural studies, at the Faculty of Icelandic and Comparative Cultural Studies, School of Humanities, University of Iceland. He has published several articles and book chapters within Icelandic cultural history of 19th century Iceland, emphasising literacy practices and post-medieval manuscript culture. Davíð is, along with Sigurður Gylfi Magnússon, the author of the book Minor Knowledge and Microhistory: Manuscript Culture in the Nineteenth Century (London: Routledge, 2017). He is also one of the three editors the series Sýnisbók íslenskrar alþýðumenningar (Anthology from Icelandic Popular Culture).

Dr. Þóra Pétursdóttir

Dr. Þóra Pétursdóttir er fornleifafræðingur við Department of Archaeology, History, Religion and Theology við UiT The Arctic University of Norway, Tromsø. Hún lauk doktorsprófi frá sama háskóla árið 2013 með ritgerðinni Concrete Matters: Towards an Archaeology of Things. Rannsóknir hennar eru fyrst og fremst innan samtímafornleifafræði, menningararfsfræða og kennilegrar fornleifafræði og hún er höfundur fjölda fræðigreina á þessum sviðum. Ásamt Bjørnar Olsen er hún ritstjóri bókarinnar Ruin Memories: Materialities, Aesthetics and the Archaeology of the Recent Past (Routledge, 2014). Ásamt honum fer hún einnig fyrir rannsóknarverkefninu Unruly Heritage: An Archaeology of the Anthropocene, sem er öndvegisverkefni norska rannsóknasjóðsins. Dr Þóra Pétursdóttir is researcher in archaeology in the Department of Archaeology, History, Religion and Theology at UiT The Arctic University of Norway, Tromsø. She completed a PhD from the same University in 2013, with a thesis titled Concrete Matters: Towards an Archaeology of Things. Her research interests lie within archaeology of the contemporary past, critical heritage studies and archaeological theory, and she is the author of articles and book chapters on these issues. Together with Bjørnar Olsen, she is the editor of the book Ruin Memories: Materialities, Aesthetics and the Archaeology of the Recent Past (Routledge, 2014). Together with Bjørnar Olsen she is currently leading the research project Unruly Heritage: An Archaeology of the Anthropocene, financed by the Norwegian Research Council. Dr. Gavin Lucas

Dr. Gavin Lucas er prófessor í fornleifafræði við Háskóla Íslands. Hann hefur einkum lagt áherslu á annars vegar aðferðafræði fornleifafræðinnar og kenningarlegan grunn hennar og hins vegar nútíma fornleifafræði (það er tímabilið frá 1500 til okkar daga). Nýjasta bókin hans er Understanding the Archaeological Record (CUP, 2012) og þá er hann meðritstjóri í ritröð sem beinist að afgerandi nýjungum innan fagsins og nefnist Archaeological Orientations og gefið út af Routledge.

Dr Gavin Lucas is Professor of Archaeology at the University of Iceland. His main research interests lie in archaeological method and theory and the archaeology of the modern world (i.e,. archaeology of the period c. 1500-present). His most recent book was Understanding the Archaeological Record (CUP, 2012) and he is co-editing a series of disciplinary cutting edge volumes called Archaeological Orientations for Routledge.

Dr. Sigurjón Baldur Hafsteinsson

Dr. Sigurjón Baldur Hafsteinsson er prófessor í safnafræði við Háskóla Íslands. Hann hefur sérhæft sig í rannsóknum á menningararfi og á undanförnum árum einblínt á áhrif nýfrjálshyggju á menningarlíf á Íslendinga og stefnumótun í menningarmálum. Sigurjón er höfundur bókanna Unmasking deep democracy: An Anthropology of Indigenous Media in Canada sem kom hjá Intervention forlaginu í Danmörku 2013, Phallological Museum sem kom úr hjá LIT Verlag í Þýskalandi 2014 og ritstjóri bókarinnar Byggðasöfn á Íslandi sem kom út hjá Rannsóknarsetri í Safnafræðum árið 2015. Sigurjón er einnig samhöfundur með Arnari Árnasyni að bókinni Death and Governmentality: Neo-liberism, Grief and the Nation-form sem gefin var út af Háskólaútgáfunni 2018.

Dr Sigurjón Baldur Hafsteinsson, is a Professor in Museology at the University of Iceland. Hafsteinsson has been engaged in research on neoliberal cultural politics and the heritage sector in Iceland. He has focused on aesthetics and democratic stressors within cultural policy making and heritage practices and the ways in which it collapses with notions of cultural heritage ownership. Hafsteinsson has published books as single author like Unmasking Deep Democracy: An Anthropology of Indigenous Media in Canada (2013), Phallological Museum (2014) and the latest as co-author (with Arnar Árnason) Death and Governmentality: Neo-liberalism, Grief and the Nation-Form (2018). His publications also include peer-reviewed articles in international journals and books.

Dr. Már Jónsson

Dr. Már Jónsson er prófessor í sagnfræði við Háskóla Íslands. Sérsvið hans er félags- og hugmyndasaga á tímabilinu 1600–1900. Hann hefur skrifað ævisögu Árna Magnússonar (1663-1730) prófessors og handritasafnara á íslensku (1998) og ensku (2013), en hefur síðustu árin einbeitt sér að athugunum á dánarbúum og arfaskiptum. Tvær greinar um það efni hafa birst í tímaritunum Sögu (2012) og Sjuttonhundratal. Nordic Yearbook for Eighteenth-Century Studies (2016). Útgáfur hans á dánarbúum eru: Hvítur jökull, snauðir menn. Már Jónsson is professor of history at the University of Iceland. He specialises on social history and the history of ideas in the period 1600–1900. He has written a biography of the manuscript collector Árni Magnússon (1660-1730) in Icelandic (1998) and English (2012). In recent years he has worked on probate inventories from the 18th and 19th centuries, publishing articles in Icelandic and English, besides editing four book-length collections of inventories from various regions in Iceland. Anna Heiða Baldursdóttir

Anna Heiða Baldursdóttir er doktorsnemi í sagnfræði við Háskóla Íslands. Leiðbeinandi hennar er dr. Sigurður Gylfi Magnússon prófessor. Hún er með BA-gráðu og MA-gráðu í sagnfræði frá Háskóla Íslands. Anna Heiða er hluti af öndvegisverkefninu Heimsins hnoss. Söfn efnismenningar, menningarfur og merking. Hún er búsett í Borgarfirði og hefur unnið við ýmis störf frá unga aldri. Þá hefur hún síðustu misseri unnið við Landbúnaðarsafnið á Hvanneyri.

Anna Heiða Baldursdóttir is a doctoral student in History at the University of Iceland. Her supervisor is dr. Professor Sigurdur Gylfi Magnússon. She holds a BA- and MA degree in History from the University of Iceland. Anna Heiða is part of the project “My Favorite Things: Material Culture Archives, Cultural Heritage and Meaning”. She lives in Borgarfjörður and has worked on various jobs from a young age. Lately she has been working for the Agricultural Museum in Hvanneyri.

Finnur Jónasson

Finnur Jónasson er doktorsnemi í sagnfræði við Háskóla Íslands. Leiðbeinandi hans er Sigurður Gylfi Magnússon. Finnur er með BA-gráðu og MA-gráðu í sagnfræði frá Háskóla Íslands og diplómu í kennslu framhaldsskólanema einnig frá Háskóla Íslands. Finnur hefur unnið víða, meðal annars sem pizzusendill og við afgreiðslu á videóleigu, en lengst af hefur hann unnið á Geðdeild Landspítalans og á leikskólum og búsetukjörnum fyrir geðfatlaða í Reykjavík.

Finnur Jónasson is a Doctoral Student in History at the University of Iceland. His instructor is Sigurður Gylfi Magnússon. Finnur has a BA and MA degree in History from the University of Iceland as well as a being a certified teacher at the High Grammar School level. He has a varied and extensive employment history, he has worked as a pizza delivery man and as a clerk at a video rental store, although he has mostly worked at various Psychiatric Wards at Iceland’s National Hospital and in Pre-schools, half-way houses and group homes in Reykjavík.

Guðný Hallgrímsdóttir

Guðný Hallgrímsdóttir stundar doktorsnám í sagnfræði við Háskóla Íslands undir leiðsögn dr. Más Jónssonar prófessors. Hún hefur verið sjálfstætt starfandi fræðimaður í ReykjavíkurAkademíunni frá árinu 2003 og unnið að margvíslegum verkefnum tengdum handritum kvenna. Guðný lauk MA-gráðu í sagnfræði frá Háskóla Íslands en verkefni hennar fjallaði um sjálfstjáningu kvenna á 18. og 19. öld. Árið 2013 kom út eftir hana bókin Sagan af Guðrúnu Ketilsdóttur. Einsögurannsókn á ævi 18. aldar vinnukonu en bókin hlaut Fjöruverðlaunin í flokki fræðibóka árið 2014. Guðný vinnur nú að nýrri og endurbættri útgáfu bókarinnar á ensku sem er væntanleg hjá bókaforlaginu Routledge undir titlinum Independent Woman or Fool? A Microhistorical Study of an 18th-century peasant woman í ritröð sem nefnist Microhistories.

Guðný Hallgrímsdóttir is a PhD student in history at the University of Iceland under the supervision of Professor Már Jónsson. Since 2003 Guðný has been an independent scholar at the Reykjavík Academy, working on a variety of subjects, mostly dealing with women‘s manuscripts. Guðný completed her MA degree from the University of Iceland, her thesis focused on the self-image of Icelandic peasant women in 18th and 19th century. In 2013 she published the book Sagan af Guðrúnu Ketilsdóttur. Einsögurannsókn á ævi 18. aldar vinnukonu (The Story of Guðrún Ketilsdóttir. A microhistorical study of an 18th-century peasant woman). The book was awarded the Fjöruverðlaun, a women’s literature prize in 2014, in the category of academic books. Guðný is currently working on an revised version of the book in English that will be published by Routledge 2019 under the title Independent Woman or Fool? A Microhistorical Study of an 18th-century peasant woman in a book series called Microhistories.

Kristján Mímisson

Kristján Mímisson er að ljúka doktorsnámi í fornleifafræði við Háskóla Íslands. Rannsóknir hans hafa einkum beinst að fornleifafræði síðari alda. Í þeim hefur Kristján lagt áherslu á einsögulega nálgun þar sem hann veltir fyrir sér hinu mannlega í efnismenningunni og efnislegum eiginleikum persónunnar og hvernig þetta tvennt tvinnast saman. Í doktorsritgerð sinni, Life in Stones, fjallar Kristján til að mynda um ævibrot kotbónda frá síðari hluta 17. aldar og hvernig það birtist okkur í gegnum efnisminjar kotbýlisins Búðarárbakka.

Kristján Mímisson is finishing his PhD studies in archaeology at the University of Iceland. In his research Kristján has focused on Later Historical Archaeology where he has emphasized microhistorical approaches and reflected upon the human in material culture and the material qualities of personas and how these things intertwine. In his PhD thesis, Life in Stones, Kristján discusses for example the partial biography of a late 17th century peasant and how it presents itself through the material remains of the peasant farm at Búðarárbakki.

Andri M. Kristjánsson

Andri M. Kristjánsson hefur BA próf frá Háskóla Íslands og meistaragráðu frá sama skóla í bókmenntafræði. Hann hefur komið að rannsóknum á dagbókaskrifum Íslendinga á 18.– 20. öld. Andri er einnig í doktorsnámi í Almennri bókmenntafræði við Háskóla Íslands auk þess að sinna rannsóknum og verkefnastjórn í öndvegisverkefninu Heimsins hnoss.

Andri M. Kristjánsson holds a BA and a MA degree from University of Iceland in Comparative literature. He has worked as an assistant researcher on Icelandic diary writing between the 18th and the 20th century. He is a PhD student in Comparative literature at the University of Iceland as well as being a researcher and project manager for My Favourite Things – center of excellence.

Þorgerður Þórhallsdóttir

Þorgerður Þórhallsdóttir er meistaranemi í safnafræði við Háskóla Íslands og er einn af þátttakendunum í verkefninu Heimsins hnoss. Hún útskrifaðist með MA-gráðu í myndlist frá Malmö Art Academy árið 2016 og BA-gráðu frá Listaháskóla Íslands 2013 í myndlist.

Þorgerður Þórhallsdóttir is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Museology at the University of Iceland and she is one of the participants in the project My Favourite Things. She holds a M.A. degree in Fine Art from Malmö Art Academy and a B.A. degree in Fine Art from the Iceland University of the Arts.

Arnheiður Steinþórsdóttir

Arnheiður er meistaranemi í sagnfræði við Háskóla Íslands og er með BA gráðu í sagnfræði frá sama skóla. Leiðbeinandi hennar í MA náminu er dr. Már Jónsson. Í grunnnáminu sat Arnheiður í ritstjórn Sagna, tímariti sagnfræðinema við HÍ, og stundaði skiptinám við Kaupmannahafnarháskóla í eina önn. Arnheiður er frá Ísafirði og situr í stjórn Sögufélags Ísfirðinga.

Arnheiður is an MA student in history at the University of Iceland and holds a BA degree in history from the same University. Her supervisor is dr. Már Jónsson. As an undergraduate she worked on Sagnir, a journal published by history students, and spent a semester in the University of Copenhagen. Arnheiður is from Ísafjörður, a small town in the North-West of Iceland, and is a board member in the Historical Society of the town (Sögufélag Ísfirðinga).

Ólöf Gerður Sigfúsdóttir

Ólöf Gerður Sigfússdóttir nam mannfræði við Háskóla Íslands og Chicago háskóla, þaðan sem hún lauk MA-prófi árið 2002. Hún stundar nú doktorsnám í safnafræði við Háskóla Íslands, þar sem hún skoðar söfn sem rannsóknarstofnanir með áherslu á þá þekkingarsköpun sem verður til með þeim einstöku verkfærum og aðferðum sem söfn búa yfir. Hluti af verkefninu er að staðsetja söfn í stigveldi rannsókna, þar sem háskólar tróna efst en staður safna er óskilgreindur. Þá er umfang og skipulag rannsókna í íslenskum söfn kannað og sett í samhengi við söfn á Norðurlöndum. Ólöf Gerður vinnur á mörkum mannfræði, efnismenningarfræði og safnafræði, og kannar leiðir til að beita sýningarstjórnun sem rannsóknaraðferð. Meðal sýninga sem hún hefur unnið má nefna Að þekkjast þekkinguna (Listasafn Árnesinga, 2010) og Í bili (Hafnarborg, 2011). Þá hefur hún verið virk í opinberri umræðu um myndlist, söfn og rannóknarpólitík. Frá árinu 2007 hefur Ólöf Gerður starfað við Listaháskóla Íslands, þar sem hún vinnur að uppbyggingu listrannsókna hér á landi, auk þess sem hún stýrir gæðamálum við sama háskóla.

Ólöf Gerður Sigfússdóttir has a BA-degree in anthropology from the University of Iceland and an MA-degree from the University of Chicago in 2002. Currently, she is a PhD candidate in Museum Studies at the University of Iceland, studying museums as research institutions, focusing on the unique methods and techniques museums have to generate and disseminate knowledge. Part of the study is to situate museums in the current hierarchy of science, where universities sit at the top while the place of museums remains ambiguous and undefined. A documentation and analysis of research activity is Icelandic museums is a case study. Ólöf’s work crosses borders between anthropology, material culture studies and museum studies, deploying curatorial practice as a research method. Among curatorial projects are i.e. Acknowledging Knowledge (Hveragerði Art Museum, 2010) and In Between (Hafnarborg Center of Culture and Fine Art, 2011). She participates actively in public discourse in the field of museums, contemporary art and research politics. Since 2007 she has been working at the Iceland University of the Arts, establishing the emerging field of artistic research in Iceland.

Guðrún Hildur Rosenkjær

Guðrún Hildur er meistaranemi í sagnfræði við Háskóla Íslands en lauk BA-námi 2017. Hún útskrifaðist sem klæðskera- og kjólameistari frá Iðnskólanum í Reykjvaík 1996. Hún hefur starfað við kennslu og rannsóknir á íslenskum búningum og handverki og rekur fyrirtækið Annríki – Þjóðbúningar og skart.

Gudrun Hildur is a MA-student in History at the Univeristy of Iceland with a BA-degree from 2017. She graduated as a master tailor from the Technical School in Reykjavík 1996. She has been teaching historical dressmaking and researched Icelandic historical and traditional dresses. She runs the workshop Annríki – Þjóðbúningar og skart.
